Build a Mob-Proof Nighttime Base

Design Your Structure

Create a shelter with walls at least two blocks high to prevent most ground mobs from entering. Use solid blocks like wood, stone, or dirt—avoid leaves or transparent materials. Build a roof to protect against phantoms and ranged attacks from skeletons. Include a door or gate you can close behind you.

Prevent Mob Spawning Inside

Place torches throughout your interior to keep light levels high. Mobs spawn in darkness, so consistent lighting is critical. Space torches every 12 blocks or closer for complete coverage. Consider using slabs or stairs on the floor—mobs cannot spawn on these half-blocks.

Add Combat Features

Include windows or shooting ports where you can safely attack mobs with a bow. Build elevated platforms to gain height advantage over ground-based enemies. Create multiple rooms so you can retreat if overwhelmed.

Stock Essential Supplies

Store food, weapons, and healing items inside. Keep a crafting table and furnace accessible for repairs and cooking. Maintain extra torches in case your lighting fails during the night.
