Craft Your First Backpack

Gather Basic Materials

Backpacks can be crafted early in survival mode using common materials. You'll need leather or wool as your primary component, along with string to bind the bag together. Collect these from animals, sheep, or by exploring caves.

Create at a Crafting Table

Open your crafting table and arrange your materials according to the bag recipe. The exact pattern depends on which backpack style you want—chest-style bags use wood planks alongside leather, while simpler pouches require fewer components.

Place the crafted backpack in your hotbar and hold it in your hand. You'll immediately see the 3D model appear on your character's back or shoulders.

Organize Your Items

Right-click while holding the backpack to open its 27-slot inventory. This doubles your carrying capacity during mining trips or exploration. You can store tools, blocks, and resources without filling your main inventory.

Tip: Craft multiple backpacks in different colors to organize items by type—one for ores, one for building blocks, one for tools.
