Navigating Multi-Level Temple Structures
Understanding Temple Layout
Aztec temples are vertical structures with multiple floors, staircases, and interconnected rooms. The main entrance usually leads to a central staircase descending deeper into the structure. Secondary passages branch off at different levels, creating a maze-like interior. Some sections are open to the sky, while others are completely enclosed underground.
Safe Navigation
Place torches as you descend to mark your route and prevent getting lost. Watch for sudden drops and gaps between levels—some are intentional design features. Move carefully on narrow staircases. If you fall, water or hay blocks can break your fall safely.
Mapping Your Progress
Consider bringing a map or taking mental notes of major landmarks: distinctive colored blocks, large chambers, or unique architectural features. This helps you remember which passages you've explored and which remain. Some temples have multiple exits, so knowing the layout prevents wasted time searching for the way out.
