How to Tell Which Axolotl Is in Your Bucket
Why the Bucket Texture Matters
In vanilla Minecraft, every axolotl bucket uses the same pink axolotl icon, so you cannot tell at a glance whether you are carrying a leucistic, wild, cyan, gold, or blue axolotl. This mod changes the bucket's item texture so it matches the axolotl stored inside, letting you identify your catch without placing it down.
Reading the Bucket Icon
1. Catch an axolotl with a water bucket as usual.
2. Open your inventory and hover over the filled bucket.
3. Look at the bucket's icon: the axolotl drawn on it now reflects the variant you captured.
4. Compare buckets side by side in a chest or hotbar to sort your collection.
Because the change is purely visual and client-side, the item still behaves exactly like a normal axolotl bucket. You can stack your sorting by color, keep rare variants separate, or quickly grab the right bucket when trading or building an axolotl enclosure. If you play on a server, other players without the mod will still see the default pink texture, but your own view will always be accurate.
