Quick Block Replacement in Axiom: Swapping Materials Fast

The Fast Swap Workflow

Axiom's quick block replacement is designed for the common task of changing one material into another across a build or region. Instead of breaking and re-placing every block, you tell the mod the source block and the target block, and it handles the rest. This is reachable from the Left Alt menu for small jobs and from the Right Shift world editor for large, selection-based ones.

Doing a Targeted Replacement

For a small area, open the Left Alt menu and pick the replacement function. Set the block you want to remove as the source and the block you want in its place as the target. Then click or drag over the blocks you want affected. Axiom only touches blocks matching the source, so surrounding materials stay untouched — perfect for converting a patch of cobblestone to stone bricks without disturbing nearby dirt or gravel.

Doing a Large-Scale Replacement

For bigger projects, press Right Shift to open the world editor. Make a selection covering the region you want to change, then use the mass replacement tool. Specify source and target blocks and confirm. The whole selection is converted in one operation. This is ideal for re-theming an entire build — for example, swapping all oak logs for dark oak, or all sandstone for red sandstone.

Best Practices

  • Always make a selection slightly larger than you think you need, then trim.
  • Undo immediately if the result surprises you; large replacements are hard to reverse by hand.
  • Chain replacements to re-theme a build in stages: walls first, then floors, then details.
