How to Counter Parry Attacks and Blocking

Understanding Parry Mechanics

Awakened mobs can instantly parry your sword strikes, interrupting your attack and pushing you backward. This happens when you swing at them during their active defense window. Parries are devastating because they leave you vulnerable and reset your momentum.

Timing Your Attacks

The most reliable counter is patience. Watch the mob's weapon position—when it's raised in a blocking stance, don't attack. Only then should you commit to your strikes. This prevents parries entirely.

If you do get parried, expect knockback. Don't panic; use the distance to reposition and prepare for their counter-attack.

Defensive Positioning

Approach from angles where blocking is awkward—behind, to the side, or from above. Mobs use correct blocking animations, meaning their defense has directional weaknesses. Attack from their rear or flanks to bypass their guard more easily.

Consider using weapons with longer reach, like spears, to strike from safer distances while they're still recovering from blocks.
