Async Particles Mod Guide

How Async Particles Reduces Particle Lag

Async Particles is a small, single-purpose mod that targets one of the biggest sources of stutter in heavily modded Minecraft: particle rendering. Instead of handling every particle on the main thread, it moves particle ticking and buffer filling to asynchronous processing, so the game thread spends less time on particle work each frame.

The mod also adds particle culling, which skips rendering particles that would not meaningfully contribute to what you see. This matters most in mods that spawn large numbers of particles, such as Pretty Rain or Effectual, where vanilla handling can drag frame rates down.

A third feature, async light caching for particles, reduces the cost of repeatedly looking up lighting for particles as they move and update.

Because the mod is purely an optimization layer, it does not add items, blocks, or recipes. You install it and it works in the background. If you use particle-heavy mods and notice FPS drops during rain, effects, or dense visual moments, this mod is aimed at exactly that problem.
