Enable the Retro Scanline Effect

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game. Press the key bound to shader settings (typically accessed through OptiFine or Iris settings), then locate Animetro Shaders in your active shader list.

Adjust Scanline Intensity

Within the shader settings, find the option for screen effects or scanlines. The horizontal line effect that mimics old tube televisions can be toggled on or adjusted for intensity. If you want a stronger retro look, increase the scanline value. For a subtle effect, keep it low.

Fine-Tune Other Retro Effects

While in the settings, you can also adjust the chromatic aberration slider—this controls the red and blue color channel shift that creates the glitch effect. Increase it for a more pronounced retro feel, or decrease it if you prefer a cleaner image.

Apply and Test

Save your settings and return to your world. Look at various surfaces and lighting conditions to see how the scanlines interact with different blocks. The effect is most noticeable on large flat surfaces like water or sky.
