Retrieve Items from Your Fox's Mouth

Why Foxes Carry Items

Tamed fennec foxes will pick up dropped items and carry them in their mouths. This happens automatically when items are nearby and the fox's mouth is empty. While this is cute, you'll eventually need to retrieve those items.

How to Take Items

1. Locate your tamed fox that's holding an item

2. Make sure your hands are completely empty (no items in your cursor)

3. Right-click on the fox

4. The item will drop from the fox's mouth and appear on the ground

5. Pick up the dropped item

Preventing Item Pickup

To stop your fox from collecting items, keep it in sleep or follow mode when you're not actively playing with it. Foxes in sleep mode won't pick up nearby drops. You can also manage this by clearing the area around your fox of loose items.

Note

Baby foxes can also carry items, so check them too if you're missing something valuable.
