Use Magical Swords Effectively in Combat

Now that magical attacks work properly with Better Combat, you can use the enhanced animations to your advantage. The magic effects add both damage and utility—some swords freeze enemies, others deal area damage.

Timing Your Attacks

Better Combat's animations include wind-up and cooldown periods. Use these moments to:

• Position yourself for maximum magical effect range
• Let the magic projectile travel before engaging again
• Back away if the cooldown leaves you vulnerable

Pairing with Armor

Magical swords work best when paired with protective gear. The magic attacks draw aggro, so wear armor with good defense stats. Some Ancient Elements armor sets synergize with specific sword types—fire swords with fire-resistant gear, for example.

Multiple Enemies

Magical swords with area effects excel against groups. Position yourself centrally and swing to catch multiple targets. Projectile-based magic works better against single strong enemies where you can focus fire. Experiment with different swords to find your preferred playstyle.
