Why your amethyst beacon has no beam or no effects

If you've built the pyramid but the beacon isn't working, check these common causes in order.

Checklist

1. Sky access. Any solid, non-transparent block above the beacon stops the beam. Clear everything above it, including any roof you may have built.

2. Complete layers. Each layer must be a full, solid square with no gaps or holes. Check the corners of the larger layers in particular.

3. Centering. The beacon must sit on the middle of the top layer, and each lower layer must be centered under the one above.

4. Correct block type. Use full amethyst blocks. Amethyst shards, clusters, buds and budding amethyst are not base blocks.

5. No payment given. The beacon needs an effect chosen and a payment item in the slot, and you must click the checkmark. Amethyst shards are accepted as payment with this mod.

If effects seem limited

• Only certain effects appear at lower tiers. A one-tier pyramid offers fewer choices than a four-tier one.
• Being outside the beacon's range means you won't get the effect, so stand closer. A taller pyramid widens the range.

If the beam shows but you get no effect, reopen the menu, reselect the effect and pay again with a shard.
