Safely Cross High Bridges and Walkways
Assess Before You Walk
Stop at the start of each bridge and look at its full length. Identify any gaps, narrow sections, or obstacles ahead. High bridges often have railings, but some sections may be open—note these danger zones before committing.
Move Carefully and Deliberately
Walk slowly across bridges rather than sprinting. This gives you time to react if you misstep. Avoid jumping unless absolutely necessary, as landing incorrectly can send you over the edge. Use crouch (sneak) on very narrow sections for better stability.
Create Safety Measures
If you're nervous about a particular bridge, place temporary blocks along the edge to widen your walking space. You can remove them later. Alternatively, build a rope or chain of blocks slightly below the bridge as a safety net.
Know Your Escape Routes
Before crossing, identify where you could jump to if you start to fall—nearby platforms, lower roofs, or water below. Some falls are survivable if you land on the right surface.
