Defending Against Mobs on the Hillside
Understanding Your Defensive Position
The castle sits on a high rocky hill surrounded by a thick pine forest. This elevation gives you a natural advantage—mobs must climb to reach you. However, the forest provides cover for hostile mobs at night, so establish clear sightlines from your towers and walls.
Securing the Perimeter
The castle's thick stone walls are your primary defense. Walk the entire perimeter and check for gaps or damaged sections. Reinforce weak points with additional blocks and ensure all doors close properly. Place torches along the outer walls to prevent mob spawning in shadows.
Creating Kill Zones
Build defensive structures at key entry points: the main gate, tower bases, and any natural paths up the hillside. Consider creating elevated platforms on towers where you can safely attack approaching mobs from range.
Managing the Forest
Clear trees immediately around the castle base to remove mob cover and improve visibility. Leave the forest intact further out for wood gathering, but maintain a buffer zone of at least 10-15 blocks from the walls. This prevents mobs from using dense foliage to approach undetected.
