Configuring Machine Export Directions

AE2 Addon Lib includes custom screen tools that let players choose which face of a machine exports items or fluids. This is essential for machines that need flexible placement in compact builds.

How Direction Selection Works

When you add a directional output feature to your machine, players can right-click the machine to open its menu and select which side exports. The addon library stores this preference and enforces it during network operations.

Setting This Up

1. In your machine's menu screen, add a direction selector widget (typically a grid showing six faces).

2. Link the selected direction to your machine's tile entity data.

3. When your machine outputs items or fluids, check the stored direction before pushing to adjacent blocks.

4. Use the addon library's network capability system—it respects your directional settings automatically.

5. Test by placing your machine, configuring output direction, and verifying items flow only from the chosen face.

This approach works for both item and fluid outputs. Players can reconfigure direction at any time without breaking the machine.
