Register a Custom Machine Block with AE2 Addon Lib
Setting Up Your Machine Block
AE2 Addon Lib handles the tedious registration work so your custom machine integrates seamlessly with Applied Energistics 2's network system. You don't need to manually wire up every connection point—the mod's Registry Tools automate this.
Steps to Register
1. Define your machine block class and extend the appropriate AE2 base class provided by the addon library.
2. Use the Registry Tools to declare your block, specifying its properties (material, hardness, blast resistance).
3. Register any custom fluids your machine needs to handle through the built-in fluid registry.
4. If your machine needs to connect to ME networks, the addon library automatically handles capability setup.
5. Test the block placement and verify it appears in the creative menu.
Adding Network Connectivity
Once registered, your machine can accept and send items or fluids through AE2 cables without additional configuration. The addon library manages the handshake between your block and the network automatically. If your machine requires directional output (like a machine that exports in only one direction), you can configure this through the custom screen system included in the library.
