How to Automate Crafting with the Advanced Pattern Provider

What the Advanced Pattern Provider Does

The Advanced Pattern Provider is an upgraded version of AE2's pattern provider. It pushes crafting patterns to adjacent machines and can be expanded with Advanced Pattern Provider Capacity Upgrade and Advanced Pattern Provider Upgrade cards to hold more patterns and unlock extra functionality. The Advanced Extended Pattern Provider variant supports even more connections for large machine walls.

Setting Up Patterns

Encode your recipes using the Advanced Pattern Encoder, which produces Advanced Processing Patterns. These patterns support the same input/output syntax as standard AE2 processing patterns but are designed to work with the advanced provider's expanded slots. Place the provider against the machine you want to feed, then insert encoded patterns into its pattern slots.

Pushing Items to Machines

Connect the provider to your ME network with a cable so it can receive ingredients from your crafting CPU. When a crafting job runs, the provider pushes the required items into the adjacent machine's input slot and waits for the output. Use an ME Advanced IO Bus or ME Import Export Bus to pull finished products back into the network if the machine does not auto-output.

Expanding Capacity

Apply the Capacity Upgrade to increase how many patterns the provider can hold. Apply the standard Upgrade card to unlock additional behaviors described in the item tooltip. For very large automation setups, chain multiple providers along a machine row and feed them all from the same network.
