Add a Custom Cape to Your Skin Pack

Enable the Cape Field

This mod unlocks the cape field in the skin pack format, allowing you to include HD capes with your custom geometry skins. Edit your skins.json file and add a cape entry that references a cape texture file.

Prepare Cape Assets

1. Create a cape texture image (typically 64×32 pixels, matching Minecraft PE cape dimensions)

2. Add the texture file to your skin pack directory

3. In skins.json, add a cape field pointing to your texture file name

4. Ensure the texture is referenced in the pack's texture definitions

Test Your Cape

Import the updated skin pack into Minecraft PE and equip it. Your custom cape should now render on your character's back. Without this mod, the cape field would be stripped during loading. Verify the cape texture displays correctly and aligns with your character model's back geometry.

If the cape doesn't appear, double-check the file path in skins.json matches your actual texture filename exactly.
