Frequently asked questions

How do I turn on Trio Shader?
Open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs, click TrioShader in the list, then press Apply or Done. Shader packs only work through a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine, so that menu only exists if one of them is installed.
Why doesn't Trio Shader show up in my shader packs list?
Check that the TrioShader file is inside the shaderpacks folder and is still in its original packed form. If it was extracted, make sure the folder isn't nested inside another folder. Click the button that opens the shader pack folder from the Shader Packs menu so you put it in the right place, then reopen the menu to refresh the list.
How can I tell if Trio Shader is actually working?
Look at a lake or river, where the water should look clear and smooth instead of the default vanilla surface. Also check under trees and along block edges for soft shadows. If water and shadows look exactly like vanilla, the shader isn't active.
Do I need Iris or OptiFine for Trio Shader?
Yes. Trio Shader is a shader pack, not a standalone mod, so it needs a shader loader like Iris or OptiFine to run. Without one, the game has nowhere to load it from.
