Frequently asked questions

Is Bookshelf Mod required to play, or is it just for modders?
Bookshelf Mod is a library mod designed primarily for mod developers to build upon—players don't interact with it directly. You only need it installed if another mod you're using depends on it as a requirement.
How do I know if a mod requires Bookshelf?
Check the mod's description on CurseForge or Modrinth under the 'Dependencies' or 'Requirements' section. If Bookshelf is listed as required, you must install it for that mod to work.
Can I use Bookshelf with other library mods?
Yes, Bookshelf is designed to work alongside other library mods like Forge itself and other core mods. There are no known conflicts with standard library mods.
What's the difference between the obfuscated jar and dev jar?
The obfuscated jar is the standard version for playing; the dev jar is for mod developers who want to reference Bookshelf's code in their IDE. Players should use the obfuscated jar.
