Do I need to craft the JEI Index Upgrade or can I find it?
The JEI Index Upgrade is a craftable item that you make at a crafting table or through your recipe menu. Once crafted, place it into any Sophisticated Backpack's upgrade slot to activate the feature.
Why isn't my backpack pulling items when I click the plus button?
Make sure the JEI Index Upgrade is installed in your backpack's upgrade slot and the backpack is equipped in your armor, offhand, or main hand. The mod checks your normal inventory first, then your equipped backpacks, so if items aren't found there, it won't pull them.
Can I use this mod with AE2 or Refined Storage terminals?
Yes, the JEI Index Upgrade works with AE2, Refined Storage, Tom's Storage, and Beyond Dimensions terminals. When you click the plus button at these terminals, the mod will pull ingredients from the connected storage network if they're not in your backpack or inventory.
Does the mod work with bags inside bags?
No, the mod only scans equipped backpacks in your armor slots, offhand, or main hand. Nested bags (backpacks placed inside other backpacks) are not checked for ingredients.
How do I craft multiple stacks at once?
Hold Shift while clicking the plus button in your recipe menu to move entire stacks of ingredients into the crafting grid at once. This works with the JEI Index Upgrade and speeds up bulk crafting projects.
Does this work with EMI instead of JEI?
Yes, the mod pairs with EMI for quick recipe filling and tree crafting, so you can use it as an alternative to JEI with the same functionality.
What happens if my backpack doesn't have enough space for the upgrade?
Your Sophisticated Backpack must have an available upgrade slot. If all slots are full, you'll need to remove another upgrade first or use a backpack with empty upgrade slots.
Can I use multiple backpacks with JEI Index Upgrades at the same time?
The mod scans your equipped backpacks in order, so if you have multiple equipped backpacks with the upgrade, it will pull from them sequentially until it finds all the ingredients it needs.
Does the mod work at furnaces and other crafting blocks, or only crafting tables?
The JEI Index Upgrade works with any crafting table or terminal that supports recipe transfers, including furnaces and other recipe-enabled blocks that integrate with JEI or EMI.
Will this mod cause lag if I have lots of items in my backpack?
The mod is designed to be efficient, but performance depends on your system and how many items you're storing. If you experience issues, check that you only have necessary upgrades installed and that your backpack isn't storing excessive amounts of items.
