Accessing External Storage While Crafting

The JEI Index Upgrade can pull ingredients from more than just your backpack. It integrates with popular storage mods to fill recipes automatically.

Supported Storage Systems

The mod works with:

  • Applied Energistics 2 (AE2) terminals
  • Refined Storage terminals
  • Tom's Storage terminals
  • Beyond Dimensions terminals

How It Works

1. Equip your backpack with the JEI Index Upgrade installed.

2. Open a crafting interface connected to your storage network — This could be a terminal or a crafting table near your system.

3. Click the plus button in JEI — The mod checks in this order:

  • Your normal inventory
  • Your equipped backpack
  • Connected storage networks

4. Ingredients are pulled automatically — If your backpack doesn't have everything, the mod reaches into your storage system and grabs what's missing.

Benefits

This eliminates the need to manually withdraw items from storage before crafting. You can craft directly from your terminals without emptying your backpack first.
