Where do I find emerald ore to start?
Emerald ore spawns naturally in mountain biomes underground, similar to diamond ore distribution. You can also find emeralds in loot chests throughout the world, making exploration a viable alternative to mining.
Can I get emeralds from villager trading?
No—villagers now give Trading Gems instead of raw emeralds, which cannot be used to craft tools or armor. You must mine natural emerald ore or find emeralds in loot chests to craft emerald gear.
Do emerald tools work with enchantments?
Yes, emerald tools can be enchanted normally at an enchanting table or anvil. The built-in Fortune bonus stacks on top of any Fortune enchantment you add, giving you even higher drop rates.
How do I activate the ore highlight ability?
Equip a full set of emerald armor, then press Shift (Sneak) to highlight visible ore blocks in your view with a green outline. The effect only works when you're wearing all four armor pieces.
What happens when I hit a zombie villager with an emerald sword?
The zombie villager is cured back into a regular villager, just like using a Weakness potion and golden apple. You also have a chance to receive emerald drops from the cured villager.
Does the emerald hoe work on all crops?
The emerald hoe applies its built-in Fortune bonus directly to harvested crops, meaning you'll get extra drops when breaking mature crops like wheat, carrots, and potatoes.
Is emerald armor better than diamond armor?
Emerald armor offers extra armor toughness, increased durability, and knockback resistance compared to diamond, making it superior for protection. The full set also grants the unique ore-highlighting ability.
Do emerald tools give more experience when mining?
Yes, emerald tools grant an extra experience orb when you break blocks that normally drop experience, and the emerald sword boosts mob experience drops by 1.5 times.
Can I use Trading Gems to craft emerald gear?
No, Trading Gems are only for trading with villagers. You must use natural emeralds found in mines or chests to craft any emerald tools or armor.
Does the ore highlight show ores through walls?
The ore highlight only works on visible ore blocks within your view cone—it does not reveal ores hidden behind stone or other blocks. You still need to explore and mine to find hidden deposits.
