How to Start Occultism: Your First Ritual

Craft a Dictionary Of Spirits. This is your in-game reference for every ritual, item, and progression step. Keep it in your hotbar while you work.

Gather the First Materials

You need Otherstone and Otherrock for your ritual setup. Mine them, then craft Othercobblestone Slab, Othercobblestone Stairs, Othercobblerock Slab, Othercobblerock Stairs, and Othercobblerock Wall as you expand. You also need Silver: smelt raw silver into Silver Ingot, then craft Cut Silver, Cut Silver Slab, Cut Silver Stairs, and Chiseled Silver for decoration and ritual components.

Build the Ritual Setup

Place a Golden Ritual Bowl, Iesnium Ritual Bowl, Dark Golden Ritual Bowl, or Dark Iesnium Ritual Bowl as your ritual focus. Surround the area with Black Chalk, White Chalk, Red Chalk, Blue Chalk, Brown Chalk, Gray Chalk, Green Chalk, Cyan Chalk, Light Blue Chalk, Light Gray Chalk, Lime Chalk, Magenta Chalk, Orange Chalk, Pink Chalk, Purple Chalk, or Yellow Chalk to draw the pentacle. Use a Chalk Brush to place chalk. Add Large Candle variants (Large Black Candle, Large Blue Candle, Large White Candle, etc.) around the bowl for the ritual circle.

Perform the Ritual

Open the Dictionary Of Spirits, find the ritual you want, and place the required items into the bowl. Light the ritual with Spirit Fire (produced via the occultism:spirit_fire recipe type). The ritual consumes the offerings and summons the spirit. Start with simple summonings before attempting Book of Binding: Foliot or Book of Binding: Djinni rituals.
