How do I find treasure chests in the world?
Biome-themed chests spawn naturally in caves, on the surface, and in oceans depending on the biome—look for Normal and Sandstone chests in common areas, Coral chests underwater, and rarer variants like Molten and Void chests in hotter or distant dimensions. They're often hidden in caves and underground structures, so explore thoroughly.
What happens when I open a chest that's actually a mimic?
A mimic will transform into an aggressive monster and attack you, so be prepared with weapons and armor before opening unfamiliar chests. You can defeat the mimic to obtain rare keys or other loot.
How do I tame a pet mimic?
You can tame friendly mimics to follow you and carry items like a walking storage container. Once tamed, they'll sit when you command them and fight alongside you in combat.
How do I lock a chest to protect my items?
Use the lock and key mechanic to secure your storage containers—you'll need to craft or find keys to lock chests and prevent other players or yourself from accidentally opening them. Locked chests require the matching key to open.
Where do I get keys to open locked treasure chests?
Rare keys can be found as loot in underground treasure chests or obtained by defeating mimics in combat. Different locked chests may require different keys.
What are breakable pots and how do I use them?
Breakable pots spawn in the wilderness and drop supplies when you break them, similar to chests but more fragile. Simply mine or hit them to collect the resources inside.
Can I keep a pet mimic in my base?
Yes, tamed mimics can follow you anywhere and will stay in your base if you command them to sit. They act as mobile storage and won't despawn as long as they're tamed.
Do different biomes have different chest types?
Yes, each biome spawns themed chests—deserts have Sandstone chests, frozen biomes have Ice chests, caves have Deepslate and Lush variants, oceans have Coral chests, and dimensions have Molten, Gold, and Void chests. This encourages exploration across different areas.
Can mimics be killed permanently or will they respawn?
Wild mimics that attack you are defeated when killed and won't respawn in that location, but tamed pet mimics cannot be permanently killed—they're companions that stay with you. Avoid hitting your tamed pets in combat.
Do pet mimics take up inventory space?
No, tamed pet mimics follow you as separate entities and provide extra storage without taking up your inventory. They carry items independently and can be commanded to sit or fight.
