Frequently asked questions

How do I create my first custom game rule?
Start by opening your world's JSON configuration file in the config folder, then add a new rule object with a name, description, and default value. You can also use the in-game command system to create rules without editing files directly—check the 'Create a Custom Game Rule for Your World' guide for the exact syntax.
Can I have different rules for different worlds?
Yes, that's the core feature of Rules4Worlds—each world save stores its own separate JSON configuration file, so you can set completely different rules for each world without affecting others.
What types of values can a custom rule have?
Rules4Worlds supports multiple setting types including booleans (true/false), integers, decimals, and text strings, so you can create rules for almost any gameplay mechanic you want to control.
How do I change a rule value while playing?
Use the in-game command system to check and modify rule values without stopping or reloading—see the 'Check and Change a Rule Value In-Game' guide for the command format specific to your rule.
