Understanding the Stone Family

Design n Decor adds stone building variants such as andesite castel brick slabs, stairs, and walls, plus small deepslate tiles and stone metal blocks. These exist to give you a full block family — slab, stair, and wall — so you can build shaped architecture instead of flat cubes.

Building Shaped Architecture

1. Use castel brick walls as railings on catwalks and as low dividers between machine bays.

2. Build castel brick stairs into raised platforms so machine areas sit at different floor levels.

3. Line the base of walls with slabs to create a plinth, then run the full block above it.

4. Use small deepslate tiles as a contrasting floor in walkways and control rooms — the smaller tile pattern reads as a different zone.

5. Cap pillars with stone metal blocks where a structural column meets a beam.

Mixing Materials

Do not use one stone variant everywhere. Alternate castel brick with plain andesite or deepslate so the detailing stands out. Slabs and stairs are your main tools for softening corners and adding depth to otherwise flat facades.
