Create: Design n' Decor FAQ

Craft any of the mod's decorative blocks using the same materials you already use in Create — most recipes take a base metal, stone, or dye and produce the matching colored or styled variant. Start with a cogwheel or sheet metal block in your favorite color, then branch out into girders, catwalks, and lamps to build a cohesive palette.

They are functional Create components with the same rotation and stress behavior as their vanilla Create counterparts, just reskinned in a color. You can drop them into any existing Create kinetic network and they will transfer rotation normally.

Each color variant is its own block, so you pick the color at the crafting table rather than dyeing a placed block. Craft the variant you want directly — for example, an Amber Cogwheel versus a default one — and place it like any other cogwheel.

They are decorative industrial props meant to dress up a factory floor — think pressure vessels, tanks, and vats sitting alongside your Create machinery. They are not a fluid or steam system on their own; they exist to sell the look of a working plant.

Use metal girders as the vertical and horizontal frame, then lay catwalk segments between them at a consistent height so walkways read as intentional. Sheet metal works well as the floor or wall behind the frame to hide gaps and give the structure weight.

Castel Bricks are a styled stone block family with matching slabs, stairs, and walls, meant for factory and castle-adjacent builds. Use them where you want a more ornate or industrial stone look than plain andesite or deepslate.

Both work, but the mod shines when you pick one accent color and use it consistently across cogwheels, lamps, containers, and velvet accents. A single-color theme reads as deliberate; scattering every color looks noisy.

Make sure you are searching the exact color name (like Amber or Amethyst) rather than a generic term, since each variant is a separate entry. If they still don't appear, check that the mod is actually loaded and that your recipe viewer is up to date.

Decorative blocks are generally cheap, but large numbers of animated components like cogwheels and fans still cost performance the same way vanilla Create ones do. If you notice lag, reduce the count of moving parts rather than the static blocks like sheet metal and girders.

It is designed to sit alongside Create and other addons without conflict, since it mostly adds new blocks rather than changing existing mechanics. If you use another addon that also adds colored cogwheels or boilers, expect some overlap in the creative menu but no functional clash.
