Overview

Zombie Awareness is a survival-focused mod created by Corosus that fundamentally changes how hostile entities interact with the player. Instead of the standard vanilla AI, which relies primarily on a simple line-of-sight check, this mod introduces a complex sensory system. Mobs can now 'hear' player activities, 'smell' blood from injuries, and 'see' artificial light sources from vast distances.

The mod is designed to make the night and cave exploration truly terrifying, forcing players to adopt stealthier playstyles and reconsider their base defenses. How do I know if Zombie Awareness is actually working?
Zombies will start moving toward you from much farther away than vanilla, often in a straight line even when they can't see you. If you notice zombies pathing to your location through walls or from outside your render distance, the mod is active.
Why do zombies keep finding my base no matter where I build?
Zombies in this mod track by scent and sound, not just sight, so torches, furnaces, mob activity, and your own movement generate signals they follow. Reduce light sources near your walls, avoid running or mining loudly near your base, and put distance between your bed and your crafting area.
How do I stop zombies from tracking me home?
Break line of sight before entering your base, avoid carrying smelly items like raw meat, and don't lead a train of zombies to your door. If they're already locked on, circle away from your base until they lose the trail, then approach from a different direction.
