How to Build a Base That Zombies Cannot Easily Find
Design Around Senses, Not Just Walls
Zombie Awareness zombies rely on sight, sound, and scent. A base that hides those signals is safer than one with thicker walls. Think about what your base emits, not just how strong it is.
Layout Principles
- Separate your living area from your activity area. Put mining, crafting, and
animal pens away from your bed and storage so noise does not point straight at your valuables. - Use a buffer zone. A courtyard, moat, or open lit area between the outside and your door gives you time to react.
- Control your entrances. One main door plus one emergency exit is easier to manage than several openings.
- Avoid glass walls on the ground floor. Zombies can see you through them and will path toward the sightline.
- Keep the interior lit so nothing spawns inside during the day when you are away.
Testing Your Base
Stand inside at night and listen. If you can hear zombies bumping the walls, they know roughly where you are. Adjust lighting, seal gaps, and move noisy work further from your core rooms until the outside stays quiet.
