Overview

Effective is a client-side mod designed to fill the visual and auditory gaps in Vanilla Minecraft's environment. By adding a variety of ambient particles, interaction effects, and soundscapes, it transforms the world into a more immersive and reactive space. Originally focused on water interactions, the mod has since integrated features from the Illuminations mod, adding bioluminescent creatures and atmospheric lighting to various biomes.

The mod is purely cosmetic and does not change gameplay mechanics, making it fully compatible with vanilla servers. It is optimized for performance and works best on Fast or Fancy graphics settings.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make water effects show up in my world?
Water effects like splashes, droplets, and ripples appear automatically when entities fall into water or when water flows naturally. For waterfall mist and clouds, you need water flowing into either two block deep water source blocks or a water source above a wool block.
Why aren't fireflies appearing in my forest?
Fireflies only spawn in forests and humid biomes, and their frequency depends on the biome's humidity level—higher humidity means more fireflies. Make sure you're in the right biome type and that the area is loaded.
Can I make the waterfall mist a specific color?
Yes, place a wool block of your desired color below the water source, then flow water directly onto it from above. The mist will take on the color of the wool block.
What happens when I name a glow squid 'jeb_'?
A glow squid named 'jeb_' will glow with rainbow colors instead of the standard blue, creating a colorful visual effect in the water.
