Capturing Bees with Cages

Bee Cages let you pick up a bee and carry it with you. Craft a Bee Cage, then right-click a bee in the world or inside a hive to capture it. The cage stores the bee and its data, so you can release it elsewhere without losing its species or traits. This is essential for relocating bees from wild nests to your base.

Releasing and Organizing Bees

Right-click with a filled Bee Cage on a block to release the bee. Release bees near the hive you want them to enter, or directly into a hive interface if the mod allows it. Use cages to sort your bees by species into separate hives, which prevents accidental cross-breeding and makes it easier to track production. Label your hives or use signs to remember which bee is where.

Tips for Managing Many Bees

When your apiary grows, keep a supply of empty Bee Cages on hand. Capture excess bees instead of letting them wander, and store them in a chest for later use. If a bee is aggravating or produces unwanted effects, cage it immediately and move it away from your main area. Cages are also useful for trading bees with other players on multiplayer servers.
