Find Your First Bees

Start by exploring your world for naturally spawning bee nests. Productive Bees adds many wild bee types that spawn in specific biomes, so your first task is to find a nest and break it or use a Bee Cage to capture the bees inside. Craft a Bee Cage from basic materials and right-click a bee to pick it up, then release it wherever you want to build your apiary. Place the captured bee near flowers so it has a food source.

Set Up a Basic Apiary

Craft a vanilla-style Beehive or use one of the mod's Advanced Beehives, which give you more control over breeding and production. Place your hive near flowers and let your bee settle in. Bees need flowers to work, and different species may prefer specific flowers, so keep a variety planted nearby. Once a bee is inside a hive, it will start producing combs or its specialty resource over time.

Breed and Expand

Put two bees of the same species into a hive to breed them. Breeding produces offspring and sometimes new species when you cross different types. Use Honey Treats to speed up breeding and keep your bees happy. As you collect more species, build additional hives and separate them by type so you can track which bee produces what. Check the JEI or recipe viewer for breeding combinations specific to your modpack.
