Frequently asked questions

Why don't my enchanted items look different?
Make sure you have Optifine installed and enabled—Visual Enchants requires it to load custom item textures. If Optifine is active, try removing and re-equipping the item, or restart your game to force the texture to load.
Do I need to reinstall the pack every time I update my game?
You should reinstall or update the pack when you update Minecraft, since texture paths and formats can change between versions. Check the mod's page to confirm compatibility with your current game version.
Can I use this with other resource packs?
Yes, but load Visual Enchants lower in your resource pack list than packs you want to override it, or higher if you want its textures to take priority. Packs that modify the same armor textures may conflict and show only one version.
What enchantments does this pack cover?
The pack includes custom textures for Protection (levels 1–4), Fire Protection, Blast Protection, and Projectile Protection on helmets across iron, gold, diamond, and netherite materials. Other enchantments and armor pieces use default textures.
Why do my enchanted boots and chestplates still look normal?
Visual Enchants currently only changes the appearance of helmets; boots, chestplates, and leggings keep their default look even when enchanted.
Does this pack affect performance or FPS?
No, it only replaces textures and doesn't add new models or particles, so it has no impact on performance beyond what Optifine itself uses.
Can I see what enchantment an item has before I pick it up?
Yes—the custom texture appears on items lying on the ground, so you can identify enchanted gear by sight before collecting it.
What do I do if an enchanted helmet shows the wrong texture?
Verify that Optifine is running, check that the enchantment is one the pack supports (Protection, Fire Protection, Blast Protection, or Projectile Protection), and try reloading your world or restarting the game.
Does this work with enchanted books or tools?
No, Visual Enchants only changes the appearance of enchanted armor helmets; books, weapons, and other tools are not affected.
Can I tell the difference between Protection level 1 and level 4?
Yes—each Protection level from 1 to 4 has its own distinct texture, so you can identify the exact protection tier by looking at your helmet.
