No, Bare Bones 3D Tools works as a standalone resource pack without requiring any additional mods. However, you can optionally pair it with Entity Model Features for improved trident visuals or Hold My Items for better item rendering.
Why do my tools look flat in my inventory?
That's intentional—the resource pack keeps tools as flat 2D sprites in inventory menus to maintain a clean, organized look. The 3D blocky models only appear when you're holding the tools in your hand or when they're dropped on the ground.
How do I see the 3D models of my tools?
Hold any sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe, bow, crossbow, trident, spear, or mace in your hand while playing, and it will display as a thick 3D blocky model. You'll also see the 3D shape when you drop items on the ground.
Do enchanted tools look different?
Yes, certain enchantments get special 3D designs—for example, crossbows with Multishot and maces with Wind Burst have unique blocky shapes that reflect their enchantment effects.
