Frequently asked questions

What should I craft first in Utilitarian?
Start with the Angel Block, since it lets you place blocks in mid-air and makes building anything else far easier. The Fluid Hopper and Magnet are good early follow-ups depending on whether you need item or fluid logistics.
How does the Angel Block work?
Place the Angel Block in mid-air and it stays there, giving you a temporary anchor point to build off of. Break it or place a real block against it once your structure can support itself.
How do I use the Fluid Hopper?
Point the Fluid Hopper at a container or tank and it will pull or push fluids the same way a vanilla hopper moves items. You can usually configure its input and output sides so it only moves the fluid you want.
What do soliciting carpets actually do?
Soliciting carpets prevent mobs from spawning or walking onto the covered area, keeping creepers and other hostiles out of your base. The trapped variants add a redstone signal when something steps on them.
What's the difference between a Soliciting Carpet and a No Soliciting Banner?
The carpet covers a floor area to block mob movement and spawning, while the banner marks a zone so mobs avoid it entirely. Use carpets for tight indoor spaces and banners for open outdoor perimeters.
How do I use the Magnet?
Right-click or activate the Magnet to pull nearby items and entities toward you, which is handy for collecting drops or dragging mobs into a trap. Check its configuration for range and whether it affects items, entities, or both.
How do Lapis Lamps and Inverted Lamps work?
Lapis Lamps light up when powered by redstone, while Inverted Lamps stay lit until they receive a signal. Use Inverted Lamps for areas that should be dark only when a lever or button is flipped.
How do I make Grrass, Drit, and Snad?
These are decorative variants of grass, dirt, and sand that you craft or convert from the vanilla blocks. They're purely cosmetic, so use them to add color and texture to landscapes without changing gameplay.
Why aren't my soliciting carpets stopping mobs?
Carpets only cover the exact blocks they're placed on, so gaps between them let mobs through. Make sure the carpet area is fully contiguous and that you're using the right variant for the mob type you want to block.
Does Utilitarian work with other mods and is it laggy?
Utilitarian is designed to be lightweight and generally plays well with tech and decoration mods. If you notice lag, it's usually from large numbers of Fluid Hoppers or Magnets running at once, so reduce active instances or check the configuration for tick rate options.
