Frequently asked questions

What is the Tweaks Addon For Minecolonies actually for?
It adds colored Inventory Scrolls and Resource Scrolls so you can sort and organize your colony's management items by color, plus a Copy Scroll for duplicating scrolls and a University Scroll. It's a convenience addon, not a new colony system.
How do I get started with this mod after installing it?
Craft a basic Inventory Scroll or Resource Scroll first, then use it on a MineColonies building or colonist to see what data it pulls. Once you understand the base scroll, the colored variants work identically but let you color-code by building, district, or resource type.
What's the difference between an Inventory Scroll and a Resource Scroll?
Inventory Scrolls show what's stored inside a specific building or container, while Resource Scrolls track the colony's overall resource totals and needs. Use Inventory Scrolls for per-building checks and Resource Scrolls for colony-wide planning.
Do the colored scrolls do anything different from the plain ones?
No, the color is purely cosmetic and organizational. A Red Inventory Scroll functions exactly like a plain Inventory Scroll, so the color is just a visual label so you can tell your scrolls apart at a glance.
How does the Copy Scroll work?
Use the Copy Scroll on another scroll to duplicate its data into a new copy, letting you share colony information without losing the original. This is useful when you want multiple colonists or players to reference the same scroll data.
What does the University Scroll do?
The University Scroll is tied to the MineColonies University building and lets you view or manage research-related information from that building. Use it while near or targeting your University to see its current research state.
My scroll shows no data or the wrong building — what's wrong?
Make sure you're targeting the correct building or colonist when you use the scroll, and that the building is actually built and staffed. If the building was recently moved or rebuilt, re-use the scroll on it to refresh the data.
Can I use these scrolls on other players' colonies on a server?
It depends on your permissions on that server — you generally need access to the colony or the building to pull its data. If you get no data on someone else's colony, it's likely a permission restriction rather than a bug.
Does this mod work with other MineColonies addons?
Yes, it's designed as a lightweight addon and doesn't replace MineColonies systems, so it generally coexists with other addons. Conflicts are rare, but if scroll data looks wrong, test without other addons to isolate the cause.
Will having lots of colored scrolls hurt my performance?
No, scrolls are just items and have negligible performance impact even in large numbers. Performance issues in a colony usually come from the colony itself, not from this addon's scrolls.
