Frequently asked questions

How do I find fir trees and autumnal forests in Traverse?
Explore new chunks until you spot fir trees, which grow tall with distinctive conical canopies, or autumnal forests where red, orange, brown, and yellow leaves cluster together. If your existing world was made before adding Traverse, you must travel to unexplored terrain for these biomes to generate.
How do I get fir saplings to grow my own fir trees?
Break fir leaves and collect the fir saplings that drop, then plant them on dirt, grass, or podzol and bone meal or wait for them to grow. Fir saplings need enough vertical space and light to mature into full trees.
How do I craft a fir boat and a fir boat with chest?
Craft the fir boat using fir planks in the standard boat recipe shape, then combine it with a chest to make the fir boat with chest. Both work like vanilla boats, with the chest version giving you extra storage while you travel.
How do I grow autumnal saplings and get more leaf colors?
Collect saplings from red, orange, brown, and yellow autumnal leaves, then plant them and let them grow into autumnal trees. Each sapling color produces a tree with matching leaves, so plant the colors you want to farm.
Why aren't my autumnal saplings growing?
Saplings need adequate light, space above them, and a valid soil block like dirt or grass; if they still won't grow, try bone meal or give them more room. Crowded saplings or low light are the most common reasons growth stalls.
What can I build with fir wood blocks?
Fir wood gives you a full building set: planks, logs, stripped logs, wood, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, buttons, pressure plates, signs, hanging signs, and shelves. Mix fir with autumnal leaves for cabins, lodges, and autumn-themed builds.
How do fir signs, hanging signs, and shelves work?
Fir signs and hanging signs are crafted and placed like their vanilla counterparts, with hanging signs needing a ceiling or wall attachment point. Fir shelves hold items for display and storage, making them useful for decorating a base interior.
Do fir boats work with chests and can I ride them like vanilla boats?
Yes, fir boats behave like vanilla boats for riding on water, and the fir boat with chest adds a storage inventory you can access while aboard. Both can be broken and picked back up when you're done.
Is Traverse compatible with other biome or world generation mods?
Traverse generally works alongside other mods, but combining multiple biome or worldgen mods can cause overlapping or unusual terrain, so test in a fresh world first. If you use datapacks or other biome mods, check that their generation doesn't conflict with fir and autumnal biomes.
Does Traverse hurt performance or cause lag?
Traverse adds a modest number of blocks, items, and biomes, so performance impact is usually minor on its own. Lag is more likely from generating many new chunks at once or from running it alongside other heavy worldgen mods, so explore gradually if you notice slowdowns.
