Frequently asked questions

How do I unlock Trade Post buildings?
Open your University and research the Economics line to unlock access to Trade Post buildings and jobs. You must complete this research before you can construct any Trade Post structures in your colony.
What's the easiest way to start earning trade coins?
Build a Marketplace and assign a Shopkeeper to it—they'll sell items to visitors and generate coins automatically. This is your first and most straightforward source of coin income.
Do I need multiple colonies to use the Train Station?
Yes, the Train Station is designed to connect different colonies together for bulk trading. You can set up trade routes to buy and sell resources between your towns automatically.
Can I remove Trade Post buildings without breaking my world?
You must fully deconstruct all Trade Post buildings before removing the mod, or your colony data may become corrupted. Always use the deconstruction tool rather than breaking blocks directly.
Which pets can I train and what do they do?
You can train wolves, foxes, axolotls, parrots, cats, and pandas through the Pet Shop. Each pet type has different tasks like gathering food or herding animals to help your colony.
How does the Recycling Center work?
Assign a Recycling Engineer to the Recycling Center and feed it old tools and building materials—it breaks them down into base components you can reuse. This prevents waste and recovers valuable resources.
What do I use trade coins for besides buying from the Marketplace?
You can spend coins at the well to make wishes, which provides special benefits to your colony. Check an item viewer mod to see what rituals and effects are available.
How do Outposts help my colony?
Outposts let you claim and gather resources from distant biomes, then automatically ship materials back to your main town via train. This is useful for accessing rare biome-specific resources.
What's the Resort building for?
The Resort is a relaxation space where overworked citizens can recover their stats and boost happiness. It helps keep your workforce healthy and productive.
Can I use Trade Post with other MineColonies add-ons?
Trade Post is designed as an extension of MineColonies and should work alongside other compatible add-ons, but always deconstruct Trade Post buildings before removing the mod to avoid conflicts.
