Frequently asked questions

How do I get the Smelting Touch enchantment?
Smelting Touch is an enchantment with the same rarity as Silk Touch, so you can find it on enchanted books from loot, apply it at an enchanting table, or use an anvil to combine it with a tool. Once applied to any pickaxe, axe, shovel, or hoe, the tool will automatically smelt blocks when mined.
Can I use Smelting Touch and Silk Touch on the same tool?
No, Smelting Touch and Silk Touch are mutually exclusive enchantments and cannot be applied to the same tool. You'll need to choose which enchantment better suits your current mining goal.
What blocks work with Smelting Touch?
Smelting Touch works with ores (converting them directly to ingots), clay blocks (converting to bricks), and other blocks that have a smelting recipe. If a block doesn't have a furnace recipe, Smelting Touch won't affect it.
Do I need a furnace when using Smelting Touch?
No, the entire point of Smelting Touch is to skip the furnace step—ores and other smeltable blocks are converted instantly as you mine them, so you don't need to carry fuel or visit a furnace.
