First Checks
If
sounds you muted are audible again, confirm the mod is actually loaded for the current profile. A client-side audio mod only affects the instance it is installed in, so launching a different profile or a vanilla launcher entry will bring every sound back. Also verify you are not in a world where a resource pack or another audio mod is overriding sound events.
Common Causes
- Keybind conflict: another mod or vanilla has taken the interface key, so you cannot open the list to check your settings.
- Sound event renamed or added: after a game or mod update, some sound events are registered under different identifiers, so an old mute entry no longer matches anything. Re-search the list and re-apply the mute.
- Category vs. event confusion: muting a broad category in vanilla options can make it look like the mod failed, when actually the vanilla slider is doing the work.
- Config not saving: if changes vanish after restarting, the config file may be read-only or the instance folder is being reset by a launcher sync.
Work through these in order, testing one mute at a time. If a single specific sound refuses to mute while others work, that sound is likely being played through a channel the mod does not intercept, rather than a fault in your configuration.
