Frequently asked questions

How do I know if the Death Knell Mod is working?
Just die in any way and check the chat message. If it's a message you don't recognize from vanilla, the mod is active. You can also trigger a common one like drowning or falling to confirm new text appears.
How do I get the cookie death message?
Have another player force-feed you cookies until you die, since the message triggers when a killer makes the victim eat too many cookies. In singleplayer you can't trigger this one yourself, so it needs a second player or a command-spawned setup.
How do I see all the death messages without dying over and over?
You can read the full list on the mod's wiki or description page, though it warns that spoiling them ruins the fun. In-game, the fastest way is to trigger deaths deliberately in a test world rather than waiting for them naturally.
Why did I get a 'slipped in water' death message?
That message is the mod's fix for a rare vanilla death message that normally doesn't display properly. It appears when you die in water under the circumstances that vanilla handles poorly, so seeing it means the mod is patching that gap.
