Why Black Argillite Matters

Black Argillite is the mod's core decorative and structural stone family. It comes in a full block set — bricks, slabs, stairs, walls, columns, buttons, pressure plates, carved and cursed variants — so you can build a complete themed base from one material.

Gathering and Processing

1. Find argillite deposits underground. It generates in the world and looks distinct from vanilla stone.

2. Mine with a pickaxe. Bring a decent one; you will want a lot.

3. Craft the variants you need. Plain Black Argillite converts into bricks, then into slabs, stairs, and walls at a crafting table or stonecutter.

4. Use a stonecutter for efficiency. It gives you more pieces per block than crafting alone.

Building Tips

  • Columns and Column Slabs make good pillars and trim — use them on corners to break up flat walls.
  • Carved Black Argillite works as a decorative accent block, similar to chiseled stone.
  • Cursed Black Argillite and its brick variants have a darker, more ominous look — good for a villain lair or Nether-adjacent build.
  • Cracked Black Argillite Brick reads as ruined or ancient; mix it into walls for weathering.
  • Buttons and pressure plates let you wire redstone without leaving the argillite palette.

Pair argillite with the mod's Argillite Lamp for lighting that matches the set.
