How to Deal with the Bonescaller and Its Summons

What You Are Facing

The Bonescaller is a hostile caster-type mob that summons skeletal minions and uses a staff. It is one of the mod's signature threats because killing the summons does nothing if the caster keeps raising more.

Priority: Kill the Caster

1. Identify the Bonescaller first. It stands back while minions rush you. Look for the staff and the summoning animation.

2. Close the distance fast. Use sprint-jumps or a ranged weapon. If you stay at range, it will keep summoning.

3. Ignore the minions until the caster is dead. Baby Skeletons and similar summons are a distraction. Tank a few hits if needed.

4. Use a shield to walk through the minion line. Block, advance, then strike the Bonescaller.

5. Loot the Bonescaller Staff if it drops. It is a caster weapon tied to this mob — useful if you want to fight fire with fire.

After the Fight

Once the Bonescaller dies, mop up remaining minions. Some minion variants despawn on their own, but do not count on it. If you found a Bonescaller Spawn Egg variant marked "Not Despawn," that is a persistent version — do not release it near your base. Clear the area, then collect bones and any Chaos Components that dropped.
