Naturalist adds two full building material families: Shellstone (a pale, shell-like stone) and Froglass (tinted glass in several colours). Together they let you build aquarium-style and coastal builds that vanilla blocks cannot match.

Shellstone Family

Shellstone comes in a full set of shapes and finishes:

This means you can build a complete structure — floors, walls, roofs, railings — using only Shellstone. Mix Smooth for floors and Bricks for walls to add visual contrast. Cut Shellstone works well for trim and pillars.

Froglass Family

Froglass is tinted glass available in Azure, Crimson, and Verdant colours, each with a matching pane version. Use it for:

  • Aquarium walls so you can see fish and aquatic mobs
  • Greenhouse roofs that still let light through
  • Coloured windows that match a biome's palette

Practical Build Tips

1. Gather Shellstone from the world or craft it — it is a stone-type block, so a pickaxe is required.

2. Place Froglass panes between Shellstone pillars to create a zoo enclosure that reads as intentional architecture rather than a box.

3. Use Smooth Shellstone Slabs for paths and Cut Shellstone Walls for fencing around enclosures.

4. Combine all three Froglass colours in one build for a stained-glass effect.
