Gear can drop with Sockets, which are used to further enhance items.

Gems

Gems provide flat or percentage-based stat boosts. They are typically obtained by breaking down equipment or as rare drops.

• Fire/Cold/Lightning Gems: Add elemental damage or resistance
• Vampiric Gems: Grant Life on Hit or Lifesteal

Runes and Runewords

Runes are rare items that can be socketed into 'Runed' rarity gear. When specific combinations of runes are placed in the correct order, they form a Runeword, granting massive hidden bonuses.

• Example: A 'Wealth' Runeword might significantly boost Magic Find and Gold drops
• Extraction: Use a Gem/Rune Extractor to safely remove socketed items without destroying the gear
