Ashen biomes are one of the most visually distinct additions in Regions Unexplored. They use ashen dirt, ashen grass, ashen logs, ashen leaves, ashen saplings, and ashen shrubs, with ash vents scattered across the ground.

What to expect

Ashen terrain is grey and muted. Ash vents are the standout feature — they emit particles and are the visual signature of the biome. The Ashen mob spawns here, so treat the biome as hostile territory until you've scouted it. Bring a shield and a decent weapon.

Gathering ashen resources

Chop ashen logs for a grey wood palette that pairs well with stone and deepslate builds. Collect ashen saplings from leaf decay and plant them at your base if you want a renewable supply. Ashen shrubs can be harvested for decoration. Ashen dirt and ashen grass blocks let you recreate the biome's ground look in your own builds.

Building with ashen materials

Ashen planks feed into Macaw's recipes just like any other RU wood, so you can make ashen doors, fences, roofs, and furniture. The grey tone works well for ruins, crypts, and industrial builds. Pair ashen planks with argillite for a cool, desaturated palette.

Safety tips

Avoid fighting the Ashen mob near ash vents where terrain is uneven. Light up any base you build in the biome — the grey ground makes it easy to miss dark spots where mobs spawn.
