Every RU wood species has both a Boat and a Boat with Chest, which makes them ideal for long exploration trips where you need storage on the water.
Crafting the boats
Craft planks from the logs of the species you want, then use the standard boat recipe shape (planks in a U, no other ingredients). The Boat with Chest uses the same shape plus a chest in the middle slot. Because RU hooks into Macaw's, the recipes follow vanilla conventions — no special station required.
Choosing a species
Pick a boat color that matches your base palette. Ashen and
Dead boats read as grey and dark; Alpha boats are pale; Palm and
Joshua boats are warm-toned; Willow and
Cypress boats are greenish. If you're building a dock, matching the boat to the wood of the pier looks intentional.
Using boats with chests on long trips
Load a Boat with Chest with food, torches, spare tools, and empty shulker boxes. Because the chest travels with the boat, you can dump loot mid-journey without returning home. Break the boat with an axe when you reach land to recover both the boat and its contents.
Storing the fleet
Line boats up on a dock or place them in item frames near a map room so you can grab the right one before each expedition.
