ScannerFrequently asked questions
How do I start with Terminal Expansion Overdrive?
Craft or obtain a Radio Tower Base and place it on solid ground, then stack Radio Tower Segments on top and finish with a Radio Tower Antenna. Connect a computer to the completed tower to begin sending long-distance wireless messages.
What's the difference between a regular modem and the Ender Modem?
Ender Modems have their range limited to twice that of a standard wireless modem, and they cannot send messages across dimensions unless the receiving coordinates match within eight blocks. This prevents the Ender Modem from being overpowered for long-distance communication.
How do I send wireless messages across very long distances?
Build a Radio Tower by stacking a base, one or more segments, and an antenna, then connect your computer to it. Radio Towers are designed to handle long-range wireless messaging that regular modems cannot achieve.
Can I read NFC cards and RFID badges with the same device?
No—the NFC Reader reads and writes data to NFC cards directly, while RFID Scanners wirelessly detect and read nearby RFID badges without any user input required.
How do I encrypt data with this mod?
Use the Cryptographic Accelerator peripheral, which supports AES encryption, Ed25519 and X25519 key generation, and SHA string hashing for building secure computer systems.
What can the paper scanner do?
The paper scanner reads printed paper items and preserves full text color information, allowing you to extract and process formatted text data from paper.
Do Redstone Relays work differently in this mod?
Yes—network names for Redstone Relays are now added directly into the redstone event feed, making it easier to identify which relay triggered an event.
How many Radio Tower Segments do I need?
You need at least one segment stacked between the base and antenna, but you can add more segments to build taller towers for better signal transmission.
Can RFID Scanners detect badges through walls?
RFID Scanners pick up all nearby badges wirelessly with zero user input, so they detect badges in range regardless of line of sight, but range is limited by proximity.
Is this mod compatible with other CC: Tweaked mods?
Terminal Expansion Overdrive is designed as a peripheral mod for CC: Tweaked and adds new blocks and networking features; check the mod's documentation for specific compatibility notes with other mods in your pack.
