Turning On the Streaming and Recording Flags

Press U to open the status screen and enable the Streaming toggle if you're live, the Recording toggle if you're capturing video, or both if you're doing both at once. These are separate parts of your status, so you can run them independently — for example, recording a build tutorial while not streaming, or streaming without recording.

Why Use These Flags

These statuses let the rest of the server know what you're doing without you having to type it in chat every time. Viewers and friends can see the icon next to your name in the tab list and know to behave accordingly — for instance, avoiding spoilers, staying out of shot, or not interrupting a live segment. Combine them with Do Not Disturb if you want to minimize chat interruptions during a stream.

Confirming and Clearing

Hold Tab to check the tab list and confirm the streaming/recording icons appear next to your name. When you finish your session, reopen the menu with U and switch the toggles back off so people don't think you're still live. Because the status persists between sessions, it's easy to forget — make turning it off part of your end-of-stream routine.
