Frequently asked questions

How do I place a tent?
Craft a tent, then right-click on a clear, flat area of ground to place it. The area must be completely empty—remove any blocks or entities in the space first, or the placement will fail.
How do I pack up my tent and take it with me?
Sneak (hold Shift) and right-click with an empty hand on any part of the tent. Everything inside—blocks, items, entities—will be saved and packed into a single tent item you can carry.
Can I sleep in a tent to skip the night?
Yes, place a bed inside your tent and right-click it to sleep. The tent roof blocks rain, so beds work normally and you won't be interrupted by weather.
What's the difference between the tent types?
Solo Tent is a classic A-frame; Wall Tent has three walls and an open front; Canopy is just a roof; Zip Tent is fully enclosed with a closable door. All have the same 3×3 interior space.
How do I change my tent's color?
Right-click the tent fabric with any dye to recolor it. You can use multiple dyes on the same tent to create mixed, custom colors.
Can I change what the tent frame is made of?
Yes, right-click the tent poles with any vanilla log, stripped log, or plank to change the frame type. This is purely cosmetic and doesn't affect function.
What can I store inside a tent?
You can place and store any blocks and entities inside, including chests, furnaces, beds, armor stands, and loose items. Everything saves when you pack the tent.
Do tents protect me from mobs or damage?
Tents block weather and allow beds and campfires to work, but they do not provide protection from mobs or damage. Mobs can still enter and attack you inside.
What happens to my old tents when I update the mod?
Old tents automatically convert to the new model when your world loads, as long as the area around them is clear. If conversion fails, clear the space and reload.
Will tents lag my game or cause performance issues?
Simply Tents is designed to be lightweight with minimal performance impact. Tents only load and save their contents when you interact with them, so they shouldn't cause lag during normal gameplay.
